Kat Keenan is an experienced consultant and trainer with a background in non-profit administration, leadership development, policy, and program development. Ms. Keenan consults for a range of clients in the for-profit and nonprofit field, training their staff to build internal capacity, develop strong programs, and grow their organizational footprint.
Kat is seen as a leading expert in child welfare and youth policy and serves as a subject matter expert for the Capacity Building Center for the States. She is an Adjunct Faculty member at Boston University’s School of Social Work and the Rhode Island College School of Social Work.
Kat has extensive experience in leading efforts to utilize data and practice lessons to build and test innovative programs that have been used to inform evidence-based practice. As the architect of the nationally recognized Works Wonders® Program, she helped facilitate the procurement of a federal grant that led to the development, implementation, scale up, sustainability, and replication of this practice model that increases foster youth financial and work readiness capability. In 2018, Works Wonders® was the winner of the prestigious 2018 Innovations in American Government Award through the Ash Center at Harvard University, named the National Blueprint Champion for Excellence award winner by the Child Welfare League of America, and honored with the Initiative for Non-Profit Excellence award for Innovation by The Rhode Island Foundation and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
Kat holds a Master’s Degree in Policy and Planning from Tufts University and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the College of the Holy Cross.
